Professional Profile

I am a qualified and experienced Adult, Child, Adolescent & Family Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor. I am also a Consultant & Trainer specialising in Adoption & looked after children (LAC), Forensic Psychotherapist, Risk Assessor & Expert Witness. I am United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) Registered Psychotherapist and a certified member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). I specialise in working with children, young people and adults who have experienced chronic trauma, loss and abuse, who have subsequently been placed within the looked after system or adoption. I have enjoyed a varied career and have worked in the NHS and in education, working with primary and secondary schools located in deprived areas. At the Catholic Children’s Society I provided individual therapy for children, adolescents & adults, and couples and family therapy at their dedicated Family Therapy Centre. I also worked in the Post Adoption Team and the Assessment, Consultation & Therapy Team at Surrey Children’s Services where I specialised in working with children, young people and families who demonstrate sexually harmful behaviours.

I have experience of working in an inpatient treatment setting (therapeutic community) with children, young people and families who have abusive dynamics resulting in the demonstration of sexually harmful behaviours. In private practice I work with a wide cross section of clients of varied cultures, faiths and age groups. I am a Clinical Supervisor for psychological therapy professionals and social workers and I have lectured on the post graduate diploma and M.A in Psychodynamic & Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. I am dedicated to Continued Professional Development (CPD) and life-long learning. I also design and deliver specialist training for therapists and aligned professionals, adoptive parents, foster carers and local authority managers specialising in parent-infant relationships, family functioning especially for looked after children, adopted families, young people within the criminal justice system and adults who have experienced chronic childhood trauma or abuse.
